Bristol robotics startup enjoys monstrous global coverage for their launch

For the past three months we’ve really enjoyed working with the Bristol-based robotics startup Reach Robotics, planning and implementing the media strategy for the release of their first product – MekaMon, the word’s first gaming robot.

Along with the fact that MekaMon is a genuine world first, a crucial part of our approach was highlighting how the robot had made it onto Apple’s Xmas gift list and could be bought in their stores across the UK and the US.

To date we’ve generated well over 100 pieces of coverage around the world including their two key markets – America and Britain – together with France, Japan, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Ireland, India, Greece, Ireland, Vietnam, the Philippines and Argentina.

Combined, these outlets have an online readership in excess of two and a half billion people!

Among the many highlights are stories in top tier mainstream media publications including Forbes, the Daily Mail, Yahoo! News and the Daily Mirror.

MekaMon’s launch also caught the eye of a range of influential tech titles including TechRadar, Trusted Reviews, Wired, T3, The Verge, Engadget, Geeky Gadgets and VR World.

One area we knew would help the story spread globally was involving international television agencies. Using Kevin’s background in broadcast journalism, we successfully placed the story with both Reuters Television and Agence France-Presse Television.

Their videos were used globally by outlets including AOL – and the text version of the stories were also very well received, with AFP’s version proving popular with a number of key French language sites including Yahoo!.

Also, knowing the local media are always looking for a business success story, we also made sure outlets such as ITV West Country News, TechSpark, the Bristol Post and Bristol 24 / 7 were included.

Then, just before Christmas and crucially in time for presents to still be bought, CNBC did a feature interview.

We were additionally tasked with generating coverage in Christmas gift wish related stories and our very first inclusion in a Christmas guide came through – in the Metro.

And you can see a summary of all our other results here.
