Bristol and Bath have always been well known for innovation, creativity and engineering across a wide range of industries but over the past few years our area of the country has become the fastest growing high tech sector in the UK.
In fact in the last week it has been labelled as the most productive tech cluster in the country with £296,340 of sales per worker – way ahead of London which come second with £205,390.
Young start-ups are thriving alongside the growing number of more established corporates that have relocated their offices to the Bristol and Bath area. According to TechCity the local economy has benefited with employment in the tech sector rising 9% from 2011 – 2014.
With mentor systems, support networks, facilities and investment opportunities provided by partnerships such as SETsquared, the Bristol and Bath Science Park , TechSpark and the Engine Shed, fledgling start-ups have a solid chance of success.
Our very own client Brightpearl’s star is on the rise with TechCity marking them for big things in the future. Brightpearl specialises in e-commerce software that allows start-ups to compete against bigger retail rivals – but the areas of expertise covered by other local start-ups range from robotics, virtual reality, telecommunications, software development and gaming through to fintech and food ordering apps.
All of this in one of the most outstandingly beautiful areas of the country – not only to work in, but to live in too.
